Many studies have been devoted to the problem of dysplasia. Orthopedists believe that treatment should begin immediately from the birth of a baby. Only in this case can a complete recovery be achieved. Reduced dislocation and fully preserved joint function - that's what doctors are trying to achieve.
There are external signs by which dysplasia in a newborn can be suspected, but the final diagnosis is made only after an ultrasound scan. What symptoms should be looked for if there are such suspicions? Examining the child, the presence of a symptom of hip slippage and abduction is revealed. Asymmetry of the gluteal folds, shortening of the leg can also indicate changes in the hip joint.
As already mentioned, treatment must be started immediately. The child is swaddled with free legs, and spacers are also used. With pre-dislocation of the hip, Vilensky's tires are prescribed. The telescopic strut is made of aluminum, and the material on the cuffs is made of genuine leather. The device is intended for permanent wear. The orthopedist recommends splints for the following indications:
- dysplasia;
- hip dislocation;
- deformation of his neck;
- changesposition of the femoral head.
Vilensky's tires come in three sizes:
- small - for babies up to three or four months old;
- medium tire - designed for children from four months to a year;
- big one worn by children over one year old.
The spacer is worn for half a year, after the reduction of the dislocation
. Vilensky's tires are removed only after the complete development of the hip joint occurs. During treatment, the correct ratio of the femoral head and the cavity is achieved. It is necessary to maintain movement in the joint in an infant who wears a therapeutic brace.
With dysplasia, Pavlik's stirrups or Vilensky's splint are prescribed, photos of the latter are presented in the article. The patient should be examined once a week until the dislocation is reduced. This is checked as follows: the folds between the thigh and buttocks must be symmetrical. After repositioning the dislocation, a control picture is taken. The doctor also uses the method of manual examination of dysplasia.
An orthopedist shows parents how to put on Vilensky's splints. To do this, you need to put the child on a hard surface. Then spread his legs and thread through the straps, fix and lace up. The doctor will tell you which level for the spacer is preferable. Parents need to constantly monitor this. Splints allow the child to move, and therefore have no side effects. The baby can develop normally.
Additionally, therapeutic exercises are carried out,electrostimulation of muscles, massage; at the same time, a deflector splint is put on the child. If within two months it is not possible to reduce the dislocation of the hip, it is necessary to combine the procedures with other methods. For example, a functional plaster cast is applied. In some cases, the Ilizarov apparatus is used. With severe damage to the femoral head, dystrophic processes can occur. In this case, after an X-ray examination, the dysplasia is promptly eliminated.
