Any inflammation that occurs in the skeletal system is a reaction of the body to some external influence. Most often, these are bacterial infections that
penetrate through an open wound, from a neighboring affected organ or through lymph and blood from a distant focus. Local symptoms indicate inflammation of the bones: reddened skin and fever, pain. The general signs of this disease are expressed in malaise and in changes in blood test parameters.
Osteomyelitis
Osteomyelitis is the most common disease of the skeletal system. Its acute form occurs when infected by the hematogenous route (through the blood). The cause can be any purulent infection in the body, which is carried through the vessels. The first symptoms of acute hematogenous osteomyelitis are a general increase in temperature, sometimes vomiting occurs. The disease is very dangerous, general blood poisoning can occur with a fatal outcome. The area of the bone next to the joint is most often affected. Pus can cause its necrosis, in such cases, the discharge begins to come out along with the bone fragment. A defect is formed in the skeleton, which can be corrected orthopedically when it passesbone inflammation. Treatment consists in the surgical removal of the purulent focus and dead areas. Antibiotics are prescribed in maximum doses to avoid the spread of a bacterial infection throughout the body.
Chronic osteomyelitis may be the result of an untreated acute form of this disease, or it may occur due to the transfer of a purulent infection from neighboring organs or an open wound. Manifestations of this disease are expressed in a slight malaise, local soreness. Quite often there are fistulas. Through them, along with pus, dead areas of the bone are torn off. In such cases, therapeutic treatment with antibiotics is not enough, surgical intervention is required.
Inflammatory bone disease
Inflammation of the bones often occurs with tuberculosis. The pathogen enters through the blood and lymph. Bone tuberculosis affects the entire skeleton, primarily near the joints, where there is a strong blood flow. Treatment is aimed at eliminating the primary disease, and inflammation of the bones is removed with antibiotic therapy. Bone tuberculosis leads to the development of deformities in the skeleton and especially in the joints. Often there is a need for orthopedic treatment.
Inflammation of the tibia is typical for professional athletes. There is pain at any touch, the surface of the skin swells, tuberosity is formed.
Polyarthritis - rheumatic inflammation of the bones and large joints. With the development of the disease, they are affected and deformed.hands and feet. Small joints are destroyed. Anti-inflammatory treatment is very long. Physiotherapy and orthopedic devices are also required to correct the position of bones and joints.
