Cause of allergic cough
As a result of the action of allergens, histamine is released into the human body. This leads to a violation of blood microcirculation and swelling of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract. With edema, irritation of the receptors occurs. The reaction of the body to such processes is a dry cough. Allergies are most pronounced in children. They swell very quickly and can be accompanied by chest pressure, choking, and even vomiting.
How is a cough differentwith allergies from a cold cough?
A person can cough for various reasons. This raises the question of accurate diagnosis. After all, the correct choice of methods of treatment depends on the diagnosis. There are several characteristic signs that allow you to establish the allergic nature of the cough:
- Allergy cough is dry. When it appears, as a rule, viscous sputum is not produced.
- This cough is not accompanied by symptoms characteristic of a cold. For example, there is no increase in body temperature.
- Allergic cough attacks can last for a long time and bring no relief.
- Allergy cough is aggravated by the presence of allergens. The seasonal manifestation of cough during the flowering period of plants also indicates the allergic nature of the cough.
Types of allergic cough
In the outside world, there are many factors that can become allergens for a person and cause swelling of the larynx. This leads to the presence of a large number of varieties of cough. Here are some of them:
- Seasonal cough. It can be caused by a reaction to plant pollen, freshly cut grass or poplar fluff. During this period, patients are advised to reduce their stay on the street.
- Reaction to synthetic products. Household chemicals and cosmetics can cause coughing. If you are allergic to such drugs, you may also experience a headache, skin burning, fatigue.

- Cough at low ambient temperature. When leaving a warm room in the cold, spasmodic reactions sometimes occur in the airways.
- Food allergy. The task of the allergist in this case is to identify the food allergen; it is subsequently withdrawn from the patient's diet.
