Any ear surgery in medicine is divided into planned and urgent. For surgical interventions of the first type, the patient can prepare in advance. Patient preparation
Of course, ear surgery is not performed immediately after the patient's visit to a specialist. Surgery
Almost all surgical interventions on the middle and inner ear are performed under general endotracheal anesthesia. On the day of the operation, the patient undergoes premedication, after which he is taken to the operating room in a gurney. Patient management after surgery
Postoperative treatment depends mainly on the type of intervention: all operations on the middle ear (anthrotomy, antromastoidotomy) are characterized by an open wound, which is tamponed and then closed with a sterile bandage. As a rule, by the evening the patient begins to feel much better: the temperature drops, the pain disappears. The next day, the first dressing is performed; draining tampons are replaced with new ones, the postoperative cavity is washed and disinfected with antiseptic preparations. The following dressings are made every few days and stop only after the cavity is completely filled with granulating tissues. If asuppuration stops, and the perforation closes, secondary sutures are not applied. In most cases, the eardrum is restored, hearing returns to normal. Purulent otitis media with a closed wound requires a general cavity sanitizing operation, while only the outer bandage should be changed, and the sutures should be treated with iodine. Full dressing is carried out only after a week. All this time, the patient is injected with analgesics and antipyretics.
