For medical purposes, needles can be used, which come in various sizes and lengths. They are used for injections or infusions. To date, there are many variations of them, and all in order to make painful medical procedures more comfortable for the patient. Now there are needles for syringe pens, butterfly needles and other varieties that differ in length and diameter.
General description of injectors
Almost everyone knows the direct purpose of a medical syringe. It participates as an auxiliary subject for the administration of drugs, as well as the collection of fluids for laboratory analysis. The syringe itself is a mini-pump that can either draw in fluid and then squirt it out or suck fluid out of the body.
Conventionally, the syringe consists of three parts:
- empty cylindrical body;
- piston part;
- direct needle.
The size of a device such as a syringe can bedifferent. The size of such products depends on the possible collection (volume) of liquid in a hollow cylinder. You can buy a syringe of various sizes at a pharmacy. These medical devices are made of polyvinyl chloride and packaged under sterile conditions, one per package. It is allowed to use injectors only once.
Varieties and description of injectors
The injection needle is made of metal in the form of a thin tube, the end of which is cut obliquely, due to which the product becomes as sharp as possible. The other end of the needle is sealed in a plastic cap, which is put on the spout of a medical syringe. The length and size of disposable injection needles can be different, it all depends on the type of injection:
- intradermal (16 mm);
- subcutaneous (25 mm);
- IV (40 mm);
- Intramuscular (60 mm).
All varieties have a straight shape and a smooth, jagged tip with an oblique cut. The cutting angle for intravenous injection is 45 degrees, and for subcutaneous injection it is 15 degrees.
All injection-type needles are coated with a silicone compound, which allows you to minimize pain during procedures. As a result, when injected, it passes without difficulty, and the skin tissue moves apart, and does not cut through.
The diameter of the needle for syringes and infusions is also different. The diameter depends on the rate of discharge or intake of fluids:
- subcutaneous injections provide for a diameter of not more than 0.5 mm andlength no more than 16 mm;
- intramuscular injections involve needles 0.6 to 0.8 mm in diameter and 3 to 40 mm in length;
- for infusion purposes (droppers), diameter is from 0.8 to 1.1 mm, length is 40mm.
In cosmetology, injection needles of the smallest diameters are used for procedures such as mesotherapy.
If the product is foreign, then it is marked with a letter to determine the diameter G, and the size is indicated in inches. Each type of injection must correspond to the designated type of products. If, for example, an injection of an intramuscular nature is performed with an inappropriate needle, then the medicine will remain in the subcutaneous layers and will not give the desired effect.
Insulin needles for syringe pens
Insulin is injected subcutaneously, and this procedure cannot be compared with other types of injection. In order for the introduction of insulin to occur as painlessly as possible, the contour of the needles is trihedral. The syringe barrel itself is produced in an elongated and narrow shape for easy storage, carrying and use.
Syringes of this type are equipped with 5 mm microfine needles. Such injection needle is made of high quality medical steel. The microfine rod can only be used once. Such needles are suitable for any type of pen-type syringes.
Used infusion needles
Intravenous infusion of drug solutions, which is performed by infusion, is performed using a butterfly needle. Like all previous ones, "butterfly"can only be used once. Such a needle takes part only in intravenous infusions and punctures. The regular type injection needle is less suitable for such specific medical procedures.
Manufactured from quality steel, butterfly needles come in a variety of sizes to accommodate veins of varying diameters. To attach and fix the butterfly device, special "wings" are available. They are needed to prevent the movement of the needle in the vein during the procedure and not to injure the vein, especially with frequent infusions.
Dental needles
Sentry 1 ml syringes are used for local anesthesia in dentistry. Needles for them are plastic, as well as high quality steel. The length of the injectors ranges from 10 to 41 mm. The nozzle of the needle on the syringe is made by winding. These rods are quite flexible and very durable. Carpool rods provide the most painless injection procedure, as they have a cut at the tip at a very sharp angle.
