Meet the scabies itch (mite). In Latin - Sarcoptes scabiei. It has dimensions almost invisible to our eyes, but it very quickly makes itself felt: its female gnaws passages in the stratum corneum of our skin, lays eggs, and after a week up to 20 adults appear there.
The mite lives in and feeds on the skin, causing a highly contagious disease called scabies. We will talk about it in more detail.
Scabies symptoms
The disease is transmitted by contact from a patient or through infected objects. As a rule, this happens in places of special crowding of people, in violation of hygiene standards.
But what scabies will look like depends on the state of the human immune system, as well as on the stage of development of the tick on the infected skin. If a mature scabies itch has settled there, then within a day signs of the disease will appear, and if the larva, then only on the fourth day, when its maturation ends.
Clinical picture of the disease
In typical cases, itching appears, especially at night. It's connected withthe fact that the tick is actively moving at this time of day.
On the skin you can see curved whitish lines up to 7 mm long. These are the passages in the stratum corneum, which were laid by the female itch. At the end of each stroke, there is a tiny (pinhead-sized) bubble. If you carefully open it, then inside you can find the culprit of the disease.
The movement of the tick along the passages makes us itch a lot, which is why dotted or linear scratches appear on the skin, and purulent-bloody crusts form on them.
Most of all, scabies loves to settle where the skin is softer and thinner: on the chest, buttocks, around the navel and between the fingers.
Types of scabies
There are several types of manifestations of scabies. So, for example, "clean scabies" has a small amount of rashes, itching at night does not bother so much.
Nodular scabies manifests itself in the form of red-brown nodules that occur under the tick passages. At the same time, these formations are quite resistant to anti-scabies therapy.
And crusted (Norwegian) scabies - the most contagious, supported by human immunodeficiency, which will form crusts all over the body. Itching can be weak, and therefore the tick settles freely throughout the patient's body. This type of disease affects the nails, scalp, elbows and knees.
Scabies mite. Treatment
Those who suspect that they have the described disease, you must remember that scabies itch will not disappear on its own. ThisOnly correct and timely treatment can help! Otherwise, the symptoms will bother you for months and even years.
In modern medicine there are effective means to get rid of this disease. They are safe and relatively inexpensive. These are, as a rule, antiparasitic and antiseptic drugs (for example, Spregal, Bensocril, Suprastin). Sulfur ointment (10-20%) is widely used in our country, which is rubbed for a week into those places on the body where itching is localized. Before starting the procedures, it is necessary to wash thoroughly to remove mites and pathological microflora that are on the skin.
Fulfillment of all doctor's prescriptions will help you get rid of such an unpleasant disease, while maintaining working capacity and not getting complications. Stay he althy!
