The retina is an important organ that helps form visual images. It is a very thin eye membrane, one side adjacent to the vitreous body, and the other to the choroid. The retina contains light-sensitive fibers. Beams of light are focused on it
and a visual image is formed. Various diseases of the body can cause the development of pathologies of the retina. This can happen, for example, due to hypertension, kidney disease or diabetes.
Risk groups
There are people who are predisposed to diseases of the retina. These primarily include:
- patients suffering from moderate or high myopia;
- pregnant women;
- diabetic patients.
Retinal angiopathy
Angiopathy is a lesion of the vessels of the circulatory system. Most often it occurs in people prone to hypertension. They have various circulatory disorders, and retinal angiopathy occurs. The reasons that gavethe impetus for the development of the disease can be very different. In accordance with them, several types of angiopathy are distinguished:
- hypertensive;
- diabetic;
- youthful;
- traumatic.
Hypertensive angiopathy
This disease is characterized by dilatation of the veins and an increase in the branching of the vessels. Often a person has a feeling of pulsation inside the eye. Diabetic retinal angiopathy
With the development of diabetes mellitus, two types of vascular angiopathy may occur: macroangiopathy and microangiopathy. Damage to the walls of blood vessels occurs. This leads to impaired circulation. With a disease of large vessels, the process is called macroangiopathy, and with damage to the capillaries - microangiopathy. Eye microangiopathy is a fairly common disease in diabetes mellitus.
Juvenile retinal angiopathy
This eye disease is characterized by inflammation in the vessels of the retina. As a rule, venous vessels are affected. Hemorrhage occurs in the vitreous body of the eye and its retina. In some cases, the disease leads to cataracts, glaucoma, retinal detachment.
Traumatic angiopathy
Diseasemost often formed as a result of compressed injuries of the chest of a person. When the pressure in the blood vessels of the eye increases, they are damaged. There are hemorrhages in the area of the retina and optic nerve.
Treatment
When angiopathy of the retina sets in, blood flow in the vascular system of the eyes becomes difficult. Therefore, the patient is prescribed drugs that improve blood microcirculation. In the treatment of angiopathy, accompanied by diabetes, a strict diet is additionally prescribed. In addition, retinal angiopathy is treated using physical and therapeutic methods.
