We live in a strange time when everyone tends to think only about himself. The general pursuit of maximum comfort and all sorts of pleasures leads to the fact that the souls of many become callous. We easily pass by someone else's grief, do not pay attention to the weak and suffering, we try to protect ourselves from any negativity, forgetting that life is fleeting and often cruel. Youth, strength, he alth are by no means eternal categories, and compassion for one's neighbor, readiness to help one's own kind are necessary conditions for the survival of society. Therefore, the question of how to help people is very relevant. If you look around, you can see how many of our fellow citizens need support and immediate assistance. Children, the elderly, the disabled are the weakest and defenseless categories of the population.
People who help other people
Do you know what philanthropists are? Today, this concept is strongly associated with we althy people who do charity from their generosity. However, this is not entirely true, because the word "philanthropist"comes from two Greek words - "man" and "love", that is, it is a philanthropist. He is not able to indifferently pass by someone else's misfortune, and it does not matter at all whether he is poor or rich.
He always knows how to help people in this or that situation. The main capital of such an individual is a heart capable of compassion and a soul filled with love for one's neighbor. The most famous philanthropist, of course, is Mother Teresa, but there are absolutely unknown people who help other people, and, fortunately, there are quite a few of them on our planet.
Who needs help?
Young, strong and he althy are able to cope with the problems that arise. But the weak and infirm, which primarily include children, the elderly and the disabled, often require help and support from other people. Look around you: maybe there is a lonely sick person living next to you, who from time to time needs to replenish food supplies and buy medicines in a pharmacy, and it is difficult for him to do it himself.
Not all older people have relatives either. So the old men and old women hobble into the ice to the store and pharmacy, risking falling and breaking their arm or leg. And if such a person falls ill, he often finds himself in a generally distressed and helpless situation. Take a closer look at your neighbors: which of them needs your support? If correspondence is not taken out of a mailbox for a long time, and you know that a lonely elderly person lives in this apartment ordisabled person, call his door and ask what happened and why he does not leave the house for a long time.
The help of volunteers is always needed in nursing homes, boarding schools for the disabled, orphanages, hospitals and hospices. In any city, there are sure to be several institutions in which volunteers will be welcomed with open arms. If you still don’t know how to help people, then first call one of these places, or better go and find out how they can help.
Nursing homes and boarding schools for the disabled
It just so happened that in our society it is customary to think about the elderly in the very last place. If someone says: "I want to help people", then he first of all goes to the orphanage, and this is certainly very good, but the question is: who will visit the elderly in the nursing home? After all, old people are like children in their helplessness and weakness, but, unfortunately, they can no longer evoke tenderness or special sympathy.
Yes, old people can be unbearable, capricious, irritable, but they have lived a long life and certainly deserve society to treat them more gently and attentively. Yes, professional medical care should be provided for the elderly in nursing homes, but, as you know, there is a catastrophic shortage of attendants in such institutions, which cannot but affect the quality of life of their residents.
Come to the boarding school for the elderly and disabled, go to the head and find outhow you can help. Sometimes it doesn't take much: to sit around, read a book aloud, or just listen to an old person. And sometimes help is more serious: clean up the ward, feed the sick people, etc.
Hospital and hospice
How can people in these institutions be helped? You will be told about it right on the spot. Volunteer help is always needed there, there are not enough hands in such places, and the atmosphere can be so psychologically difficult that not many compassionate people dare to appear there.
It takes real, unfeigned courage and mental strength to help and support very sick people. This is where true humanity can be revealed. By the way, Mother Teresa never shied away from visiting the seriously ill, on the contrary, she strove exactly where it was most difficult and hardest.
Orphanages
As mentioned before, orphanages are the first thing that comes to mind when you think about how to help people. And yet help is always lacking. After all, there are a lot of children who, by the will of fate, found themselves in the care of the state, and each of them needs care, affection, attention. Are they getting it all in the right amount? Of course not! Sponsors can send toys, arrange a children's party, but a child needs constant attention.
So if you are determined to take the path of mercy, then in any orphanage there is a job for you. Come, talk to the attendants, they will tell you whichchildren need help the most.
The most humane professions
If you are a young person and have not yet decided what exactly you will do in life, but have a penchant for compassion, then you may need a special profession: helping people constantly and daily, if you become a doctor or nurse. By the way, nurses used to be called sisters of mercy.
Professions of teachers and educators are also among the most humane in the world. And there is such a type of activity as a social worker. All of these types of professional activities provide an opportunity to show love for people to the fullest.
