Movement is life. People walk and run waving their arms, and cannot bend the little finger on the hand, leaving the ring finger straight - the simplest examples of synkinesis. This is normal, although there are pathologies in this area. Let's talk about it for a bit.
Synkinesia - what is it?
Many movements people do unconsciously. We breathe and blink without any special effort. We can scratch or do something else without even noticing it. There is even a special category of so-called friendly involuntary movements called synkinesias. In some cases, this is absolutely normal, but sometimes it can also be a pathology. Moreover, it happens that it is abnormal and there is no movement.
Physiological and pathological
Synkinesias are divided into those that are normal for the human body, and those that require medical attention.
Physiological include, for example, abduction of the eyeballs with a sharp squinting, distortion of the face with significant physical effort, or waving the arms while walking or running fast. This isinvoluntary movements that we do not notice and sometimes cannot even control. We owe their appearance to evolution - in this way nature helps to master new skills. This is clearly seen in the example of children: those who, for example, are learning to write or draw, often stick out their tongues "out of diligence." After mastering a new skill, this habit disappears, and this is completely normal.
But it happens that such "additions" are signs of any violations or a consequence of insufficient development of some parts of the body. Pathological synkinesis often accompanies speech therapy problems in preschoolers, may develop after paralysis and other types of damage to the nervous system.
Reasons
Sykinesis is always one or another problem with the central nervous system, the conductivity of the nerve pathways. The most obvious example is, for example, the symptom of Hun. It is expressed in involuntary squinting or rapid blinking of one eye when moving in the area of the cheeks, nose, lips. As a rule, the cause is incorrect or incomplete regeneration of the facial nerve after damage.
There are more unpleasant manifestations, expressed in bizarre grimaces, sometimes similar to convulsions, especially when it comes to facial expressions. It is not surprising that patients, as a result, also acquire psychological problems. So you can’t neglect medical help, and if such violations occur, you should immediately contact the doctors, because includingthe success of the treatment depends on it.
Treatment
Previously it was believed that the correction of this type of disease is impossible. Fortunately, modern medicine has a fairly rich arsenal of tools that can help get rid of such a problem as synkinesis. These are reflexology, massage, physiotherapy exercises, medicines, physiotherapy procedures and surgical methods. The prognosis depends on many factors, and in each case only a doctor can draw any conclusions. With timely detection and diagnosis, usually the treatment of synkinesis, together with the underlying disease, leads to compensation of motor functions and the elimination of gross cosmetic deficiencies. So, for example, in the past few decades, doctors have also adopted botulinum toxin, which paralyzes muscles, against this disease.
There is no effective prevention. However, as practice shows, an increase in motor activity counteracts the appearance of such disorders with an increased tendency to them.
