Benzalkonium chloride is a drug found in many medications. It is an ammonium compound and is produced as a white or yellowish white powder. Also, this tool can be found in the form of a gel-like mass, soluble in alcohol, water, acetone and practically insoluble in ether.

Benzalkonium chloride is the active ingredient. Depending on the type of drug, it may be supplemented with other ingredients.

Benzalkonium chloride is found in topical solutions, eye drops, various creams, vaginal suppositories, tablets, capsules and room disinfectant liquid concentrate.

The method of using this substance depends on the form in which it is produced.

  • The external solution is diluted with water (distilled) to a concentration of 1%, and then gauze dressings, tampons or napkins are impregnated with it, and then applied to the wound.
  • A thick mass or cream is applied to the wound surface, which is previously cleaned of necrotic tissue and purulent discharge (at the rate of 0.25-0.45 g / 1 sq. cm). You can also use gauze pads or turundas soaked in the drug. The maximum dose of this drug per day is 50 g. Dressings are changed every day for two weeks.
  • Vaginal contraceptive suppositories are inserted into the vagina while lying on your back. Do this five minutes before sexual intercourse. The duration of action of the drug is 4hours.

Intravaginal tablets are also inserted into the vagina, lying on the back, ten minutes before sexual intercourse. The duration of action of this drug is 3 hours.

The cream is inserted into the vagina using a dispenser-applicator (preferably in the supine position). Its action develops immediately after application and lasts for 10 hours.

According to the instructions, a new capsule, portion of cream, suppository or tablet should be introduced every time you have repeated sexual intercourse.
