Many people who go to the doctor with a rash and itchy skin are diagnosed with dyshidrotic eczema. This is a chronic disease that is accompanied by very characteristic skin lesions. Interestingly, the most common rash appears on the skin of the hands and feet.
Causes of dyshidrotic eczema
Modern medicine knows many reasons for the development of such a disease. In particular, this type of dermatosis often has an allergic origin. Moreover, different substances can act as an allergen - cosmetics, household chemicals, etc. Often, people who are forced to constantly contact with chemically aggressive agents, for example, workers in factories, in laboratories, suffer from a similar problem.
In addition, dyshidrotic eczema is often found in patients who have experienced emotional trauma or have been under stress for a long time. Of course, disorders of the nervous system or mental overstrain can lead toappearance of characteristic skin lesions. On the other hand, risk factors include excessive sweating, as well as some diseases of the endocrine system, which are associated with hormonal imbalance.
What symptoms accompany dyshidrotic eczema?
As a rule, at the first stages there is a rather strong itch and only then the patients notice the first elements of the rash. It should be noted that rashes with this type of eczema are quite characteristic - they look like small bubbles filled with a clear liquid.
After a few days, the vesicles begin to crack, as a result of which their contents fall on the surface of the skin - this only increases itching and significantly worsens a person's well-being. Moreover, cracks and areas of tissue erosion form at the site of the rash. In the future, the wounds on the skin are covered with dry crusts of a yellowish, and sometimes brown color. The symptoms of the disease can also include redness and peeling of the skin, a gradual thickening of the surface tissues.
It is immediately worth noting that only a doctor can correctly diagnose dyshidrotic eczema. Therefore, at the first symptoms, you should immediately contact a dermatologist.
Eczema dyshidrotic: how to treat?
It is extremely difficult to get rid of the disease forever. Nevertheless, modern methods of medicine help to alleviate a person's condition during an exacerbation, as well as extend the period of remission. As already mentioned, dyshidrotic eczema of the hands is most common. Treatmentis determined individually and depends both on the severity of the disease and on the characteristics of the patient's body.
To begin with, doctors prescribe antihistamines, such as Suprastin or Tavegil, as this helps to relieve itching and slow down the further development of an allergic reaction. If the exacerbation is caused by stress, then it would be advisable to use mild sedatives, in particular motherwort or valerian tinctures.
In some cases, the skin is treated with special hormonal ointments that quickly relieve inflammation. Baths with a decoction of chamomile, as well as compresses with Burov's solution, will be useful - this will help prevent secondary infection of the skin and, accordingly, suppuration. A hypoallergenic diet, smoking cessation and alcohol consumption are also important.
Today, cryotherapy, laser therapy, ultraphonophoresis and some other hardware procedures are also used to treat eczema.
