Preeclampsia: what is this pathology? This is a disease that occurs during pregnancy, provoked by the pathological development of the fetal egg. It is characterized by the following symptoms:
- nausea, vomiting;
- edema;
- vasospasm (which leads to hypoxia of the fetus and maternal tissues);
- high protein in urine;
- high blood pressure (due to excess levels of renin, which is intensively produced by the renal vessels under the action of spasms);
- abdominal pain, rapid weight gain.
Preeclampsia…What is dangerous this disease can bring? About 20% of pregnant women suffer from this complication. Pathology of this kind is a risk to the life and he alth of the fetus and mother. Statistics say that about 25% of maternal deaths are due to this pathology. The etiology of the disease is still a mystery to medicine, and it is impossible to insure against it. But there is no doubt that such a painful condition of women is explained only by pregnancy. Since after childbirth, all signs of the disease disappear.
Of coursethere are scientific hypotheses for the appearance of gestosis, but they are not generally accepted. Many believe that the possible causes of its occurrence are genetic predisposition, the reaction of the mother's immune system (the placenta does not develop correctly, and the body recognizes it as a foreign object), pathology of the endothelium (a ball of cells that cover the inner walls of blood vessels), medication with vasoactive substances.
Preeclampsia. What is this disease and how to get rid of it?
It is impossible to cure preeclampsia, since its nature is unknown. All you can do is ease the symptoms and help the mother carry the baby.
The process of development of this pathology begins with fatal spasms of the mother's blood vessels, which disrupt blood circulation and disrupt the metabolism in the placenta, which prevents the fetus from developing normally. The child receives less oxygen (due to the fact that the mother's arteries have become narrow under the action of spasms), which causes fetal hypoxia, can provoke the death of organ and brain cells. Preeclampsia provokes the death of red blood cells, a high content of enzymes in the liver, which can cause cirrhosis, poor blood clotting. As a rule, preeclampsia is diagnosed after the 20th week of pregnancy.
Preeclampsia. What is the degree of preeclampsia?
They appear in different clinical forms:
- mild (the most striking symptom is vomiting (about 5 times within 24 hours), other indicators are normal);
- medium (vomiting is observed about 10 times, sharpweight loss, tachycardia, presence of acetone, protein in urine);
- severe (vomiting more than 10 times, weight loss reaches 5 kg in 7 days, acute tachycardia, dehydration).
Second pregnancy: preeclampsia
No one can guarantee that preeclampsia will reappear during the second pregnancy, and no one will claim that you are protected from it. In any case, follow the right diet (plus s alt should be excluded from it), visit your doctor on time, take tests on time, and then, if danger arises, you will have time and the opportunity to avoid it.
