The louse is a blood-sucking parasite. It lives on mammals. The louse feeds on the blood of its host. At the same time, unlike fleas, it is not able to jump far. However, the blood-sucking parasite runs fast, which allows it to move from one place to another with great speed. So, even the slightest contact with the hair of a person infected with lice can cause parasites to appear on your head.
Who suffers from lice?
The most common opinion is that parasites live only on homeless people and dirty people. However, this is not true. Parasites can also settle on those who constantly monitor themselves. Clean skin is even attractive to lice. After all, the absence of dirt and sebaceous secretions will allow them to freely saturate with the blood of the owner.
It is worth saying that the bites of parasites do not cause much harm to humans. An exception may be cases when special types of lice come across that spread various diseases. However, even the very feeling that there are parasites in the hair that drink blood is unpleasant. At the first sign of the appearance of lice (pediculosis), it is worth quickly starting to take all necessary measures toget rid of bloodsuckers. Otherwise, they can breed a lot. As a result, the whole body will begin to suffer from their bites.
Therapy
So, if you find yourself with a louse, treatment can be done with medicines and products that are sold in pharmacies. They will help fix the problem. However, it often happens that lice can adapt very well to changing conditions. The treatment for which you purchased the medicines from the pharmacy should then be continued with the new products.
For pediculosis, the following remedies are currently recommended:
- special shampoo (it is used to wash hair in which a head louse has wound up);
- treatment with special medications (these include Medifox and Nittifor preparations);- boric ointment, propolis and butadione.
Alternative Medicine
In the event that a louse has started, treatment can be carried out by folk methods. The most common way is to use vinegar or kerosene. The liquid is applied to the head, which is then covered with a plastic bag for half an hour. It is worth remembering the disadvantages of this method. Both kerosene and vinegar have an unpleasant specific smell. In addition, these products weaken the hair, making it dull and thin.
A more gentle way is to use essential oils. If there is a louse in the hair, the treatment may consist of the use of natural remedies. These include lavender oils andtea tree. Tar or dust soap, as well as cranberry juice will help get rid of blood-sucking parasites.
In the event that a head louse is wound up, treatment may not be carried out. It will be effective to simply cut your hair bald. Hair dye can also help get rid of parasites. Lice do not like hydrogen peroxide.
In the event that you find yourself with a body lice, you should immediately wash your clothes, dry them in the sun and iron them with a hot iron. Lice will die from exposure to high temperatures. If for some reason it is impossible to wash and iron a thing, it is recommended to put it in the freezer for a day.
