Fibroadenoma of the breast is a benign seal, which consists of an overgrown connective and glandular tissue. Pathology can be manifested by a painful induration, which makes women see a doctor. But most often there are no pain sensations, and the seal is detected only during an ultrasound scan. Fibroadenoma of the breast today is often considered the most common breast tumor. Unlike adenoma, it is dominated by connective tissue stroma.
Symptoms
Fibroadenoma of the breast can be identified by a characteristic seal in the chest - a mobile, dense ball that has a smooth surface and does not cause pain on palpation. But in any case, the final diagnosis will be made by a mammologist after some tests (biopsy, ultrasound).
Reasons
Because of what exactly this pathology occurs has not yet been precisely determined. It is believed that the development of compaction begins against the background of hormonal failure. Mostly fibroadenomaBreast cancer is diagnosed in young women around the age of 30. This tumor is completely safe during pregnancy, it does not affect the child and the expectant mother, but the hormonal changes that occur during this period can lead to an increase in compaction. There are several types of fibroadenomas:
- phylloidal - the most dangerous type that can develop into cancer, differs from other forms of the disease by a rapid increase in the tumor;
- intracanalicular - connective tissues grow in the lumen of the ducts;
- pericanalicular - characterized by an increase in connective tissue near the ducts;
- mixed - may have several features.
How to cure breast fibroadenoma
This seal, unfortunately, is not amenable to drug treatment. The tumor can only be removed by surgery. There are two types of surgery: removal of the tumor itself (if there are no cancer symptoms) and together with the area of the mammary gland (used for suspected oncology). Urgent surgery is required if:
- pregnancy is planned, as a growing tumor can block the milk ducts, which will make it impossible to breastfeed the baby;
- there is a suspicion of oncology;
- tumor size over 5 cm;
- in a few months, the formation increased by 2-3 times - in this case, there is a suspicion of a leaf-shaped tumor.
Breast fibroadenoma: surgery
The procedure lasts for an hour. The patient is then placed in a hospital, where, depending on the condition, she will stay for up to several days. The stitches are removed after about 7-12 days. It is impossible to completely exclude the recurrence of education, but the likelihood of relapse is low. Specialists are now increasingly using the removal of breast fibroadenoma with a laser. Its essence lies in the fact that electrodes are connected to the tumor, with the help of which a low voltage is applied. Fibroadenoma tissue heats up and dies. Connective tissues form at the site of the tumor within two months.
