Heatstroke is a pathological condition of the body (child or adult), which occurs as a result of the detrimental effect on a person of too hot air, as well as solar (infrared) radiation.
Most often, overheating occurs in young children. This fact is due to the fact that they have not fully developed thermoregulation of the body, and due to long exposure to the sun, it can be easily disturbed.
Symptoms of heat stroke in children
Overheating of the body in a child occurs at high air temperatures, which range from 28 degrees Celsius and above. In addition, this phenomenon often occurs due to high humidity (in summer), violation of the drinking regimen and excessive wrapping of the baby in multi-layer clothing.
It is also worth noting that under adverse weather conditions, teenagers can also get overheated. - profuse nosebleed.
Heat Stroke: Treatment at Home
If there are obvious signs of overheating of the body, experts recommend taking one of the following plant-based preparations:
- "Belladonna" (one dose every 16 minutes for 5-7 times).
- Cuprum metallicum (one dose every 30 minutes).
- Natrum Carbonicum (one dose every 30 minutes).
Heat Stroke: Baby First Aid
- Requiredquickly eliminate all external factors that caused overheating. Then you should remove excess clothes from the child and transfer him to a room with an air temperature of no more and no less than 18 - 20 ° С.
- A person's skin should be wiped with 55% alcohol, and then cool the head with ice or cold water.
- The child should be given plenty of water (1% s alt solution, weak tea, 0.6% soda solution, 6% glucose solution, etc.).
- Newborn babies require diet therapy. On the first day, one breastfeed should be skipped and the total amount of food should be reduced by 30%.
- In case of severe heat stroke, infants need urgent hospitalization. Adolescent children can also be treated at home (depending on severity).
