Endometriosis is the least understood gynecological disease. Since its inception, several theories have emerged about what provokes its development. None of them has been completely and completely justified and has not been proven. Therefore, the causes of endometriosis have not been thoroughly studied.
Most of the experts who have been involved in research in this area believe that all violations come from disruptions in the hormonal background of a woman, in particular, it all depends on the level of estrogen. It is these hormones that are responsible for the development of sexual characteristics in the female body. If too many of them are synthesized, the inner lining of the uterus grows and enlarges. Endometriosis, the causes of which, according to experts, depend on this factor, must be treated immediately after detection. Otherwise, the development of infertility or more serious diseases is not excluded.
There are also a number of certain side factors that one way or another can act as a cause of endometriosis. Here are some of them:
- Metaplasia, that is, the rebirth of one type of normalfabric in another. There is speculation that endometrioid tissue can transform into another when it is outside the uterus.
- Retrograde menstruation. An explanation for this cause of endometriosis was put forward as early as 1920. Its essence lies in the fact that the menstrual tissue after the exit enters the fallopian tubes and enters the pelvic area. After that, its subsidence and germination occurs. Subsequently, it was proved that a similar process of the so-called retrograde menstruation is characteristic of almost 90% of women. Therefore, scientists excluded this factor from the category of "causes of endometriosis", citing the fact that not everyone who has a similar feature develops the disease.
- Genetic predisposition. It turns out that first-degree relatives are at risk of developing the disease to a greater extent than everyone else. Moreover, if there is still a so-called hereditary predisposition, endometriosis in this case is even more difficult.
- Failures in the immune system. It turns out that in women who have endometriosis of the uterus, the causes of occurrence may also lie in this violation. However, today there is no authentic evidence of the legitimacy of the existence of this theory.
- Environmental factor. According to the results of certain studies, there are some environmental aspects that can cause the development of the disease. So, they have a toxic effect on the synthesis of sex hormones and the functioning of the immune system as a whole. However, the expediency of the existence of this theoryis also controversial.
Among other things, the causes of the development of the disease can also be considered the presence of excess body weight, inflammatory processes in the genital area, as well as the negative effects of alcohol, tobacco and drugs.
