Children's common cold can very often turn into bronchitis, a disease with more severe symptoms: fever, shortness of breath, wet or dry cough. In addition to the infection, there are various other causes of inflammation in the respiratory tract. Why does it appear and how to cure bronchitis in a child? Is it possible to use folk remedies? What causes bronchitis in children?
- Most often, this inflammatory process is the result of a viral seasonal infection, such as influenza. The usual picture of a developing disease is as follows: first a runny nose appears, then the throat becomes inflamed, and after one or two days the child begins to cough. Without timely diagnosis and treatment of an acute infection, there is a risk of damage not only to the bronchial mucosa, but also to the lungs.
- Much less commonly, bronchitis is caused by a bacterial infection. Microbes can get (especially in young children) into the respiratory tract along with very small foreign bodies. Hurrying ortalking while eating, the baby can accidentally inhale crumbs, seeds, pieces of fruit. These particles, of course, go outside, but the infection remains.
- Often the disease can be allergic in nature and occur after contact with certain external irritants: plant pollen, house dust, "aromas" of washing powders, animal hair.
- Sometimes children develop bronchitis as a result of exposure to chemical agents, such as inhaling polluted smoke or gasoline fumes.
Besides the result of underlying causes, bronchitis in children can be the result of parasitic infections. Also, some congenital malformations of the respiratory organs, accompanied by purulent processes, manifest themselves in the form of this disease.
Diagnosis of bronchitis in children: main symptoms
The most common symptoms that define this serious illness are a high fever for several days in a row and a cough. The latter can be both dry and wet. After examination, the doctor also detects various rales in the lungs. In almost all cases, coughing may produce sputum. In the acute form of bronchitis, it looks like an almost completely transparent liquid. Chronic disease is usually diagnosed by the presence of purulent expectorant clots.
How are acute bronchitis in children treated with herbal infusions?
Parents should definitely and strictly follow all the doctor's recommendations. Only this can be a guaranteespeedy recovery of the child. Herbal decoctions and infusions should not completely replace the medicines prescribed by the doctor. Use them as an adjunct therapy, combining with the main course of treatment. And do not forget that any new products for the child should be given at first in very small portions, since an allergic reaction to any component is possible.
