History of Creation
Due to the aggravation of the foreign policy situation in the USSR, various branches of the defense industry, including the nuclear sector, began to develop in the country. All this required not only the observance of special safety rules in production, but also the prevention and treatment of possible occupational diseases.
For this purpose, back in 1947, the Third Main Directorate was created under the Ministry of He alth, which has now been renamed the Federal Medical and Biological Agency. The best specialists of that time were attracted to it. On the initiative of the Deputy Minister of He alth Burnazyan, in 1948 a closed clinic for 200 people was created, in which they treated people employed in the described specialized industries. In addition to the hospital, aradiation laboratory, which became the basis for the creation of the Institute of Biophysics. In the 90s, it was decided to merge the specialized clinic No. 6 and the Institute of Biophysics into one institution - the Federal State Budgetary Institution of the State Research Center of the FMBTS named after.
