Colpitis is a female disease. It occurs when the process of inflammation of the vaginal mucosa begins. The cause of the disease can be poor hygiene of the organs of the reproductive system, sexual infection, dysfunction of the uterine appendages, an infectious disease, as well as excessive use of antibiotics.
The inflammatory process also begins to develop after gonococci, staphylococci, mycoplasmas and other pathogens enter the vagina. A disease such as colpitis, the treatment of which must be carried out immediately, can cause severe complications in the reproductive system of a woman and the body as a whole.
For a disease such as colpitis, treatment should be prescribed only after an accurate diagnosis. There are several types of colpitis: bacterial, candidal, atrophic, trichomonas.
Each type of disease has its own treatment. For example, atrophic colpitis, the treatment of which is most oftencarried out in women during menopause, it must be eliminated by adjusting the hormonal background. Moreover, it is necessary to prevent the process of dystrophy of the cells of the vaginal mucosa.
The disease has the following symptoms: scant or abundant discharge with a bad smell and color, sometimes there is pus in the discharge, irritation and severe itching. Often a woman has a burning sensation.
For a more accurate diagnosis, an examination by a gynecologist and microscopy of the vagina is necessary. Diagnosis should accurately establish that the patient has colpitis. Treatment of the disease should be comprehensive. Basically, it is necessary to use those drugs that have a detrimental effect on pathogenic microflora: antifungal, antiviral, antibacterial.
Colpitis treatment (suppositories, tablets, ointments, douches) involves slow. For douching, you can use a weak aqueous solution of potassium permanganate, decoctions of sage and chamomile. Swabs soaked in sea buckthorn oil or streptomycin emulsion are often used locally.
You also need to provide good nutrition and restore immunity (immunomodulators, vitamin complexes). It is advisable to limit the consumption of spicy and very fatty foods, as well as foods such as chips, hot dogs, and do not eat in fast food establishments. Be sure to drink enough liquid. Colpitis, which is often treated at home, implies the absence of sexual intercourse during the course of the disease. Be sure to eliminate all infectious andinflammatory processes that accompany the disease.
After treatment of colpitis, it is necessary to strictly adhere to the hygiene of the genital organs, try to avoid promiscuous sexual contacts, treat various infectious and inflammatory diseases that can provoke colpitis in time. If possible, it is desirable to engage in moderate physical activity. It is also necessary to exclude all bad habits that can stimulate the development of the disease: smoking, alcohol.
