For the past nine decades, the Institute of Eye Diseases (Ufa, the city where it is located) has been conducting research, developing and manufacturing medical devices and intraocular lenses, and providing diagnostic and therapeutic ophthalmological care.
History of the institute
Ufa Research Institute was founded in 1926 on the basis of a small regional hospital for research, which was associated with a massive trachoma disease in Bashkiria. The first head of the institution was V. P. Odintsov, a well-known ophthalmologist. All the forces of the institute of that time were directed to the study of trachoma, its diagnosis and treatment. In 1932, some changes took place: the number of beds increased by 3 times, two more laboratories were opened: histological and acting. It so happened that during the war years the institute of eye diseases temporarily changed its profile. Ufa has become a haven for people requiring medical care, so the research institute has become a hospital, and in the post-war period he again returned to ophthalmological activity. During the entire period of work of the research institute, eight leaders have been replaced. Today it is managed by Bikbov Muharram Mukhtaramovich, professor, doctor of medical sciences.

The specialists working here can be treated with such problems as farsightedness and myopia, glaucoma, cataracts, diseases of the cornea, optic nerve, vitreous body and retina. Also, the research institute will help with diseases of the lacrimal organs and eyelids. Much attention is paid to the development of pediatric ophthalmology. More than 70,000 patients pass through the clinic every year.
How to get to the polyclinic specialists
Both diagnostics and consultations are carried out by specialists of the polyclinic by appointment. To do this, just make a phone call. Patient service is free (if there are benefits) and paid. The Children's Consultative and Polyclinic Department accepts children for examination and further treatment with various diseases and deviations: strabismus, myopia, farsightedness, diseases of the cornea, retina, blood vessels, inflammatory processes, injuries - and this is not the whole list.
Laser vision correction
Presbyopsia, astigmatism, myopia or hyperopia - these problems are solved with the use of laser correction, which is practiced by the Institute of Eye Diseases (Ufa). Feedback on this procedure is extremely positive. It is absolutely painless, and after a few days the patient can return to the normal rhythm of life. Correction has a number of advantages over glasses and lenses. Firstly, glasses distort space and limit peripheral vision, and wearing lenses can cause microtrauma, swelling and inflammation. Secondly, neither glasses nor lenses heal, but only temporarily alleviate the fate of a person with vision problems.
