Ultrasound is one of the modern research methods, absolutely harmless and allows you to learn a lot. That is why it is widely used to diagnose pathologies of the mammary glands, thyroid gland, pelvic organs, abdominal cavity, kidneys, and also helps to monitor the course of pregnancy and constantly monitor the development of the fetus and placenta.
Some of the above types of ultrasound require preparation, pre-planned observations, which will then be taken into account when characterizing the patient's condition.
Ultrasound of the kidneys and bladder, usually performed transabdominally. Its advantage over urinary cystography, which requires a special fluid to be injected through the catheter, and this, of course, causes discomfort and discomfort to the patient, is quite obvious.
Ultrasound of the bladder and kidneys is a minimally invasive procedure. It is an alternative to palpation and insertion of a catheter, plus it provides more accurate information about the state of the organs.
Indications for an ultrasound of the bladder and kidneys are:

- results of laboratory tests (the presence of red blood cells in the urine);
- patient complaints about symptoms characteristic of various kidney diseases;
- changes in laboratory tests characteristic of various diseases of the urinary system;
- kidney or bladder stones;

- Tumors and suspicion of a cyst in the bladder;
- after injury.
Ultrasound of the kidneys and bladder also allows you to determine the presence of urinary leakage in the paravesical space.
Every twentieth suffers from kidney diseases, which cannot but worry. Very often, the development of a particular disease occurs without obvious symptoms, so the patient is referred when the disease is already progressing. Proper preparation for ultrasound of the kidneys and bladder comes down to a few simple rules. In the morning, before you go for an ultrasound, you should not drink a lot of liquid (no more than half a glass of water). Under no circumstances should you take diuretics. Before starting the procedure, a special gel will be applied to the patient's skin, which reduces air access and facilitates easy movement of the probe.
