Beautiful, even and snow-white teeth - what could be more attractive? No wonder actors, politicians and people in public professions often use the services of a dentist to create the perfect smile. But no one wants to spoil their teeth by installing crowns either. Therefore, a new method of correcting the dentition was developed and implemented - with the help of veneers. For most people, this is a new type of prosthetics. What are veneers and what are their features? This is a modern method of correcting the dentition in order to improve the shape, color and appearance of teeth. The veneer itself is a thin, almost transparent plate.

There are several types of veneers. The difference between them depends on the materials from which they are made: ceramic, composite and porcelain. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages. Composite veneers are the easiest to make. Like others, they are able to correct and eliminate the aesthetic defects of the anterior teeth, but the time spent on visiting the clinic is limited to one day.

Composite veneers are made from filling material directly in the patient's mouth. The doctor treats the surface of the tooth with a special acid-containing gel, and then applies layer by layerthe composite material itself. Each application is fixed with a photopolymer lamp. At the end of the procedure, the tooth is polished. To create ceramic and porcelain onlays, a dental laboratory is required and a longer time for their manufacture is required. Among other things, the preparation of the tooth surface for composite veneers is reduced to a minimum. Only the part that needs correction is turned.

Indications for veneers are:

- spaces between teeth;

- chips;

- the presence of old fillings that have darkened or significantly changed their color;

- discoloration of the tooth itself, possibly due to fluorosis;

- tetracycline teeth, etc.

The aesthetic and mechanical properties of composite veneers directly depend on the composition, or rather, on the particle size of the material itself. More durable plates, which include composite particles of more than 30 microns, are difficult to polish and quickly fade. Overlays with a microparticle size of 0.04 microns are distinguished by excellent aesthetic properties, they are perfectly polished, but they are rather fragile, and are more often used for filling teeth. As usual, preference is given to the golden mean, namely, materials with filler up to 0.15 microns. These veneers are strong enough to grind well and look like a natural tooth.

And yet, not everyone can put veneers. Contraindications are untreated periodontitis, malocclusion, thinning or small volume of enamel,teeth grinding habit (bruxism).

However, composite veneers are very popular with patients. Of their advantages over ceramic and porcelain, it is worth highlighting a fairly affordable price (more than twice cheaper than analogues) and installation speed (work is carried out in one visit to the dentist). A wide range of colors is able to satisfy any esthete. With proper care, veneers will last faithfully for many years.
