Symptoms
As mentioned above, sometimes candidiasis in women may not appear at all. Symptoms occur when the body is weakened. The main manifestations of thrush include:
- itching of the genitals and anus. Most often occurs in the evening, before menstruation, with hypothermia;
- thick white (grey or green) discharge with a sour smell;
- sexual intercourse is accompanied by discomfort;
- pain when urinating;
- in some cases, there may be redness of the mucous membranes of the genital organs, as well as their swelling.
Pain in the genitals does not always occur, in fact, when cracks appear. About a week before menstruation, candidiasis in women makes itself felt. Symptoms during this period become more pronounced.
Diagnosis
In addition to the patient's complaints, the results of the studies are also taken into account when establishing a diagnosis. Yes, atsuspicion of candidiasis is carried out:
- smear microscopy;
- sowing;
- enzymatic immunoassay.
PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) is sometimes performed, although doctors say that this is not the most suitable test method in this case.
Treatment
Having found out which of the fungi causes the disease, the doctor prescribes the appropriate treatment for candidiasis in women. Preparations (orally, systemically) are most often used such as: "Forkan", "Diflucan", "Mikomax", "Flukostat" and others. Being absorbed into the blood, they carry out a therapeutic effect for several days. Treatment of chronic candidiasis in women involves the use of these drugs for two or more courses. In addition, doctors suggest supplementing such treatment with vaginal tablets, suppositories and creams. The most effective of them are Miconazole, Nystatin, Clotrimazole, Natamycin, Poligynax, Pimafucin and others. With a serious approach, the treatment gives results in a week, and in some cases even after 1-2 days.
