Blood diseases always seriously affect the body. One of them is leukopenia. This disease is associated with a low content of leukocytes in the blood. With this disease, the number of blood cells decreases to 1000-4000 per milliliter, while the norm is from 5000 to 8000. What is the danger of leukopenia and how is it treated?
Causes of disease
Leukopenia can occur for a variety of reasons. Most often, it is caused by such diseases as, for example, bone marrow aplasia, acute leukemia, bone marrow metastases, myelodysplastic syndromes. Other ailments in which leukopenia can occur are anemia, SARS, influenza, malaria, polio, typhoid, sepsis, anaphylactic shock, systemic lesions of connective tissues, cirrhosis of the liver. Improper regulation of white blood cell production, damaged bone marrow, virus- or infection-affected hematopoietic brain cells, stem cells, or a deficiency in essential substances that make white blood cells, such as B vitamins, copper, iron, and folic acid, can also cause disease.
How does leukopenia manifest itself?
This disease is not too brightexpressed at the initial stage. Patients complain of constant headache, general weakness, fatigue and dizziness. Such symptoms do not cause serious concern, so many do not attach due importance to them. The disease progresses, causing migraines, fever, chills, rapid pulse and nervous tension to appear. With leukopenia, ulcers and erosions in the gastrointestinal tract, inflammation in the mouth, blood infections and pneumonia can also occur. If the disease accompanies the flu or other infections, then the lymph nodes and spleen can increase. If these symptoms appear, you should not panic, but you should seek medical help immediately.
Treatment of leukopenia
At the moment, doctors know of many drugs that stimulate the body's production of white blood cells. With leukopenia, not only medicines are prescribed, but also a certain diet. The diet should include vegetables and fruits, fresh herbs, dairy products, buckwheat, rice and oatmeal. It is good to eat foods with a lot of protein, such as chicken, rabbit and veal. Stimulate blood formation and walnuts, the use of buckwheat or flower honey, as well as propolis, will not hurt. You can ask for help and folk recipes. The best remedy to help you forget what leukopenia is is a decoction of oats from 40 grams of unpeeled cereals and 400 milliliters of warm water. Boil the oats for fifteen minutes on minimum heat, insistabout twelve hours, then strain and drink 100 milliliters three times a day. It is advisable not to make a decoction in reserve, but to prepare a fresh portion every day. There is also a dessert from which leukopenia recedes. This is honey with pollen. For a part of honey, take two parts of pollen, mix and soak for three days. Eat a teaspoon of sweet medicine with a glass of milk every day.
