Tuberculosis has existed on earth for more than a century. Previously, it was called consumption, and, I must say, this name conveyed the essence of the disease as accurately as possible. The patient with tuberculosis literally languished before our eyes. But if earlier consumption was a sentence, now the treatment of tuberculosis in most cases is very successful. Often it even leads to a full recovery.

Tuberculosis treatment: a look into the past

For a long time, tuberculosis patients were considered hopeless. Their treatment consisted, in fact, in creating the most benign conditions: peace, silence, twilight, bed rest, drugs that did not justify themselves (they were given simply because it seemed immoral not to treat the patient in any way). And so on until the patient's quiet and slow extinction.

Slowly, medicine made a discovery: the treatment of tuberculosis is possible, and fresh air and sunlight are of great importance here. And the Samara doctor Nestor Vasilievich Postnikov in the 19th century made a real revolution in the treatment of patients with consumption. Proving great benefits and excellent healing qualitiesmare's milk, he opened the world's first koumiss clinic near Samara. Tuberculosis treatment was carried out here by hitherto unknown methods: patients (among whom there were even roy alty and courtiers, Russians and not only) played tennis, rode horses, drank, drank and drank fresh koumiss again and … completely recovered! Established by a pioneering doctor, the tuberculosis clinic has gained worldwide fame. The pilgrimage to the museum that exists with her does not stop until now.

Treatment of tuberculosis with modern drugs

It goes without saying that you shouldn't joke with such a serious disease, just as you shouldn't overestimate your strength in choosing the right therapy. Drugs for the treatment of tuberculosis can only be prescribed by a doctor! However, no one is going to make a secret of their names: the main anti-tuberculosis drugs include Streptomycin, Ethambutol, Rifampicin, Isoniazid and Pyrazinamide. Moreover, not one of them is assigned, but a whole complex. The fact is that mycobacterium tuberculosis very quickly adapts to drugs and “learns” to resist them, and therefore it is necessary to deal with them according to the principle of a real attack. If the patient's body turned out to be resistant to the above drugs, second-tier medicines are connected to the treatment: Kanamycin, Capreomycin, Amikacin, Prothionamide, Ethionamide, Cycloserine,"Rifabutin", "PASK" and fluoroquinolones. The scheme of their reception is developed individually for each patient. As a rule, TB treatment is divided into several stages, 2-4 months each.

Tuberculosis and traditional medicine

Should I completely entrust my he alth to traditional medicine? It's up to everyone, of course. However, we would not recommend ignoring the achievements of modern science. Still, tuberculosis is a serious, socially dangerous disease and, unfortunately, takes hundreds of thousands of lives every year. Nevertheless, folklore can be very useful, especially when combined with traditional treatment.

Like the Samara doctor mentioned above, modern folk healers recommend that patients spend more time in the fresh air, do not hide from the sun, and ventilate the rooms as best as possible. Reasonable physical activity (again in the fresh air) will not hurt either. It is very good to lead, as far as possible, a he althy lifestyle - first of all, without cigarettes and alcohol, not to mention drugs. However, with regard to alcoholic beverages, some recipes allow concessions: for example, a teaspoon of cognac, diluted in warm milk, drunk before bedtime, is good for the patient.

Very actively folk medicine advocates for replenishing the body with iron. And not in a pharmacy, but “extracted” in this way: several clean, but rusty nails are stuck into an apple for several hours, after which it must be eaten. The procedure is repeated daily.

Recommended by the peoplemedicine and dozens of other tools that make TB treatment more successful. Many of them in modern life, of course, are inaccessible. But some can be recommended, we repeat, not instead of, but together with the course of drug therapy prescribed by the doctor. By the way, when choosing this or that folk remedy, it will not be superfluous to consult a doctor if it is right for you.

And the main thing in the fight against tuberculosis, as in any treatment, is to believe in the strength of your body and know that a full recovery is possible, the main thing is not to give up!
