A lot of things are connected with the name of Nikolai Bauman, a famous revolutionary, in the capital of our country. A metro station, a school and a street are named after him. And also - the Bauman Clinical Hospital: it also bears, as you might guess, the name of this illustrious leader of the revolution. You can learn more about the history of this clinic, what services it provides, how it works and where to find it, from our material.
A little about Bauman
Bolshevik Nikolai Ernestovich Bauman lived a short life - only 32 years old - but managed to be remembered for many of his deeds. He was born in Kazan, in the family of the owner of a wallpaper factory, and was a German by birth. He was a student at the veterinary institute in his native city, it was there that he became interested in the then forbidden literature of Marxists and populists. Even in Kazan, he began to slowly engage in revolutionary activities, and having moved to St. Petersburg in the late nineties of the nineteenth century, he began to take a much more active part in the revolutionary struggle.
Beenarrested several times, but managed to escape each time. Since 1900, he was personally acquainted with Lenin, carried out his instructions. In 1905, he died in a ridiculous street skirmish with one of the workers of a Moscow factory when he went there to agitate people to join his party.
Bauman Hospital No. 29: the history of appearance
The official year of birth of the hospital, named after the revolutionary Bauman, is 1875. Although in fact the hospital existed long before the birth of Nikolai Ernestovich himself. She has been counting her history since 1864: it was then that Princess Natalya Shakhovskaya founded the community of sisters of mercy, called "Assuage My Sorrows".
This community was located near the main military hospital - because, firstly, many sisters worked there, and secondly, it was an excellent base for both training and subsequent employment. The community was known not only in Moscow, but also abroad.
Year by year it expanded, grew, and finally, the day came when a small room near the hospital was not enough. A new house was built for the sisters of mercy - a three-story mansion on land that previously belonged to Count Orlov. The board of trustees of the hospital began to work there, the appropriate staff was recruited there, two departments were opened - one for women, the second for men. And the new hospital at the community started working at full capacity. It happened precisely in 1875, which is why this year is called the date of foundationBauman city hospital.
Hospital to follow
If at first there were only two departments in the community hospital, in which patients were "sorted" by gender, then just a year later there were three departments, and they differed in the nature of the diseases. One included those who can be cured, and those who are not in the hospital, but only come for treatment (they are on a day hospital, they would say now). In another - those whose illness is incurable, and, finally, in the third - mentally unhe althy citizens.
12 years after the official opening (that is, in 1887), the future Bauman hospital began to specialize in diseases of a psycho-neurological nature; It was also headed by a psychiatrist. The formation of the hospital took place precisely during this period, and until the beginning of the new century, the staff was selected (as a rule, professors and teachers of the medical university were invited), the work of the departments was improved. There were many sick people, there were not enough sisters of mercy, and therefore in 1912 courses for nurses were opened at the community.
The start was successful, the further functioning was the same, and over time, these courses developed into a school for the training of nurses. It should be noted that the sisters of mercy of the community were not just nurses - performing medical service, they led a virtually monastic lifestyle, completely renouncing everything worldly. Four years earlier (in 1908) there were changes in the profile of the future Bauman hospital - a department for typhoid patients appeared.sick.
After the revolution
After the 1917 revolution, the community hospital was devastated, and the community itself ceased to exist. Nevertheless, the institution was restored, reorganized into a city hospital and named after Nikolai Bauman. It happened in 1922. Since that moment, a new round in the history of "Baumanka" has begun.
By the thirty-fifth year of the last century, the Bauman hospital No. 29 (this is the serial number the clinic was assigned) had new departments, including radiology and diagnostics. The staff expanded, narrow specialists appeared, free consultations began to be practiced.
War and after
During the war years, the hospital worked as a hospital, accepting the wounded. There is still a commemorative plaque with information about it. The flow of victims was huge - for example, in the first two weeks of work, more than a thousand people arrived there - and this is due to the fact that there were half as many places. Only the professionalism of nurses and doctors, and the spirit of charity and self-sacrifice that has hovered in the corridors of the building since the days of the community, helped to withstand such pressure.
From the mid-fifties, the Bauman hospital received the status of a clinical hospital.
Currently
Currently, on the basis of the Bauman hospital in Moscow, the departments of surgery of Moscow State University and urology of the Russian National Research Medical University are working. The name of the former community "Satisfy my sorrows" became the slogan, the motto of the hospital and hangs over its gates.
The structure of the medical institution now has fifteenvarious departments (otorhinolaryngology, urology, therapy, traumatology, resuscitation, and so on), in which there are still many of their own divisions. Also, at the Bauman Hospital, there are antenatal clinics and has its own maternity hospital. There is also a separate children's center where you can observe your baby from birth to three years old at the perinatal center of the maternity hospital.
