Osteochondrosis is a dystrophic-degenerative disease associated with a violation of the structure and functions of the intervertebral discs. In humans, four parts of this part of the skeleton are distinguished: sacral, lumbar, thoracic, cervical, their defeat is characterized by common signs, but there are also specific symptoms. Osteochondrosis of the lumbar spine occurs more often than this disease of its other parts.
This is explained by the fact that the main weight of the body and the load during movement falls on this part of the axial skeleton.
Why does this disease occur?
As a result of which osteochondrosis of the lumbar spine develops? The causes of the degenerative lesion of this part of the skeleton are not fully understood.
It is believed that its development is associated with the influence of a complex of factors:
- age-related changes;
- excessive exercise;
- overweight;
- metabolic disorders;
- traumatic injury;
- wearing uncomfortable shoes;
- inactivity.
How does the disease manifest itself?
For the defeat of the intervertebral discs, common signs are characteristic: pain in the back and neck, inability to turn the head, body in the right direction, visible violation of posture.
“If I suspect I have this disease,” patients ask, “what symptoms should I look for then?” Osteochondrosis of the lumbar spine is manifested by aching, dull pain sensations. However, when trying to lift weights, a sudden change of position, they can become very strong, sharp. Unpleasant sensations are localized in the lumbar region, buttocks, back of the thighs and lower along the entire leg. Pain relief usually occurs in the supine position, also sometimes in unnatural positions (bending over, squatting).
What other symptoms are there? Osteochondrosis of the lumbar spine may be characterized by the occurrence of sensory disturbances. Spotted:

Also, with an exacerbation of the pathology, lameness, body tilt to the he althy side, chilliness of the limbs, dryness of the skin of the legs can be observed.
Thus, we have examined in detail how one can suspectexternal signs of osteochondrosis of the lumbar spine. A photo of a patient with this disease clearly demonstrates the frequent problems of a person suffering from this pathology: difficulties in movement, unnatural postures of a person.
