The fact is that drugs and alcohol cause not only emotional, but also physical dependence. For many months and years, the body gets so used to the intake of such substances that it includes them in metabolic processes. The abrupt cessation of alcohol or other addictive substances affects the work of not only the nervous system, but also other organs - this is the maincause of withdrawal symptoms.

In fact, the signs of such a syndrome can be completely different - it all depends on the substance that caused the addiction, and the general condition of the human body. They are usually divided into two main groups:
- Withdrawal symptoms may be mentally related. Quite often, drug withdrawal causes uncontrolled outbursts of aggression, frequent mood swings, or, conversely, depression.
- Since such a condition is accompanied by severe disruptions in metabolism, somatic disorders also appear. In particular, there is a strong increase in heart rate, sharp fluctuations in blood pressure. There may also be severe pain, nausea, vomiting, migraines, breathing problems, excessive sweating, etc.
Many people are interested in the question of how long withdrawal symptoms last. In fact, this indicator is very individual and depends on the general he alth of the patient, the “experience” of addiction, etc. The first symptoms appear 6-48 hours after withdrawal. And everything can last from 3–4 days to 1–4 months.
It is worth noting that the withdrawal syndrome is an extremely serious condition, which is the result of a long-term addiction. And treatment is needed. Yes, young people with good he alth sometimes manage to overcome addiction on their own. But in most cases, the so-called "withdrawal" leads to the development of severe psychosis.

A patient in this condition should be hospitalized. With alcohol dependence, a person is intravenously injected with special solutions that cleanse the body of toxins and ethanol metabolic products. The relief of withdrawal syndrome often includes the use of beta-blockers, because in such a state there is hyperactivity of the sympathetic system. In severe mental disorders, tranquilizers are used (drug "Diazepam"). For convulsions, anticonvulsants are prescribed.
Therapy like this makes it easier for a person to endure the withdrawal syndrome, but it cannot restore damaged organs and does not get rid of addiction.
