The palatine tonsils are considered one of the most important organs, the functioning of which affects the formation of the body's immune system. In the children's body, their work is given special importance, which directly affects the protective functions
Sources of tonsillitis
Inflammation
The inflammatory process can be triggered by a bacterial infection, which inhibits the formation of immunity and leads to the development of tonsillitis. A failure in the development of persistent immunity can sometimes occur due to improper treatment with antibiotics or taking drugs that reduce the temperature
Impaired nasal breathing
In order to understand how to eliminate the disease, you must first find out what is tonsillitis? First of all, let's deal with the fact that one of the causes of the disease is a violation of nasal breathing in adenoids in children, curvature of the nasal septum, polyps in the nose. Also, the causes of the development of local tonsillitis include infectious foci in the maxillary sinuses (purulent sinusitis) or chronic adenoiditis.
Body temperature
Whatis tonsillitis? The factor that causes the development of chronic tonsillitis can very often be an elevated temperature in the body and the appearance of tinnitus.
How is the disease progressing?
Chronic decompensated tonsillitis proceeds as follows.
First of all, the soft lymphoid tissue is damaged and replaced by a harder connective tissue. Later, fusion and scarring from the inside of the tonsils follows. They narrow, the lacuna of the tonsils closes, and this serves as a source for closed purulent foci. Pus accumulates in the lacunae, after which the so-called plugs form. They contain not only pus, but also desquamated epithelium of the mucous membrane, food particles, dead and live microbes. So what is tonsillitis? In chronic tonsillitis, the tonsils may enlarge, but their size may not change significantly. In their lacunae, suitable conditions are created for the formation of pathogenic microbes, the vital activity of which contributes to the maintenance of inflammation in the tonsils. Often a situation arises in which microbes spread through the lymphatic tract and the cervical nodes begin to increase.
Symptoms of tonsillitis and its course is determined by the presence of hyperemia, a roller-like increase in the edges of the palatine arches, the formation of cicatricial adhesions between the palatine arches and tonsils, a modification of the tonsils, scarring of the tonsils, caseous-purulent plugs or liquid pus in the lacunae of the tonsils, an increase in the cervical lymph nodes. If several of these signs are found, the doctor makes a diagnosis of tonsillitis.
Diseases associated with chronic tonsillitis
There are a lot of diseases that have a direct or indirect connection with tonsillitis. These are rheumatism, dermatomyositis, systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, periarteritis nodosa. Also, skin diseases such as polymorphic exudative erythema, eczema, psoriasis may be related to chronic tonsillitis. Tonsillitis can be affected by sciatica and plexitis.
Now you know what tonsillitis is and what its symptoms are.
