Ureaplasmosis - what is it? This name has an infection that is transmitted during unprotected sex and is caused by ureaplasmas.
Ureaplasmas are tiny bacteria that live on the mucosa of the urinary tract and genital organs. These are conditionally pathogenic microorganisms that can provoke a whole range of diseases, but they are also found in absolutely he althy people. For example, statistics indicate the presence of ureaplasma in every third of a born girl. But in infant boys, this microorganism is very rare.
Ureaplasmosis - what is it? It is a small parasitic organism that in most cases heals on its own over time in newborns. Especially the percentage of self-healing is high in boys. The end result shows that the disease occurs in schoolgirls who do not live sexually, in 6-23% of cases.
Ureaplasmosis - what is it? A sexually transmitted disease, which is why the incidence of infection increases in people who are sexually active.
How can you get infected?
There are only two ways to become infected with a germ: during childbirth from the mother and after intercourse. Revealeddisease on the genitals or nasopharynx. Domestic infection is practically excluded.
Signs of disease
Ureaplasmosis - what is it? In fact, microorganisms simply live on the human mucosa and do no harm. But if the disease does begin to develop, it manifests itself as follows.
- Men develop urethritis.
- Women begin inflammation of the appendages and uterus.
- Chronic ureaplasmosis can provoke the development of urolithiasis.
- May cause preterm labor or miscarriage.
Ureaplasmosis: consequences
Like any other disease, ureaplasmosis must be diagnosed and treated in time, otherwise the consequences may be irreversible. The danger of this disease lies in the fact that it is almost asymptomatic, but it can affect absolutely any area of the genitourinary system. Prolonged development of the disease without proper treatment can lead to the following problems in women:
- vaginitis (inflammation of the vagina);
- cervicitis (inflammatory process of the mucous membrane of the cervix);
- endometritis (diseases of the lining of the uterus itself);
- adnexitis (inflammation of the appendages and ovaries);
- salpingitis (inflammation of the fallopian tubes).
Salpingitis in advanced form often makes a woman infertile due to the fact that adhesions begin to form in the tubes. Can this disease provoke an ectopicpregnancy.
But the most terrible consequences of ureaplasmosis threaten pregnant women. Insidious microorganisms can provoke not only the pathology of pregnancy, but also lead to premature birth. And yet, a mother with ureaplasmosis during childbirth will infect the child with the infection.
For men, the consequences of infection are not as devastating as for women. However, the symptoms of the disease manifest themselves late in them, which allows the development of diseases such as inflammation of the prostate gland (prostatitis) and a decrease in sperm activity.
