When is a monocular dressing needed?
Dressing material for one eye is needed in the postoperative period in situations where the reflex movement of the injured eye under the napkin does not interfere with the healing process. If the body needs complete rest, cover both eyes with napkins. The dressing is contraindicated in case of exacerbation of conjunctivitis, bacterial infection and inflammatory processes.
Procedure for dressing preparation
Absorbent cotton is suitable for bandaging, from which cotton-gauze pads are made. The cotton layer is shifted with two layers of gauze. The lining material can be in the form of a circle with a diameter of 4-5 cm ora square with a side of 4-5 cm. Cutting it to size is best done when the napkin is assembled. The finished gauze pad must be sterile.
After the operation, use a monocular bandage in the form of a curtain. It is fixed on the forehead with medical tape 1 cm wide. A gauze napkin is made 16 cm long and 9 cm wide from a sterile bandage. The workpiece is folded in half, the cotton layer is not used. For eyelid hygiene, sterile cotton balls are used. They apply creams, gels and other drugs.

A bandage (on one eye) 6-7 cm wide is put on after surgery to remove the eyeball. The fixation is done tightly to the eye, but the bandage should not press on it and cause discomfort behind the ear. The method of applying to the right and left eyes differs slightly. When applied to the last bandage, the left hand is directed from left to right, to the first - with the right hand they are led from right to left.
A sterile cotton-gauze napkin is placed on the closed eye. Start fixation from the side of the diseased organ in the direction from the ear. The edge of the bandage is pressed against the earlobe. The napkin is fixed in a circular motion around the forehead. The bandage is laid towards the he althy eye, then it is led up under the ear, covering the napkin from the side of the nose. Through the back of the head, the bandage is carried out to the earlobe. It is necessary to do 4-5 circles. The last circle is performed around the forehead, fixing the tie from the side of the he althy eye.
