The anthelmintic drug is used in the amount calculated based on the body weight and age of the patient. Babies up to two years old are given 0.5 tablets of Pirantel. The dosage for children under 6 years old is 1 capsule, up to 12 - 2 units, for adolescentsand adults weighing up to 75 kg are prescribed 3 pills, patients over 75 kg - 4 pills.
The medicine must be chewed well, consumed with meals.
In ascariasis and enterobiasis, the drug is prescribed once in a volume of 10 mg per kilogram of the patient's body weight. With ankylostomiasis, the agent is used for three days at the same dosage. In complicated forms of necatoriasis, the dose is doubled.
Side effects of Pirantel
Review of patients indicates possible negative reactions after taking the pills. In rare cases, weakness, sleep disturbances, headaches, nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting may occur. Adverse reactions include skin rashes, confusion, fever.
Contraindications for taking Pirantel medication
