Surprisingly, not only women, but also men are affected by mammary gland pathologies. One such disease is gynecomastia. Fortunately, its treatment in our time is not difficult for doctors, even in advanced cases of the disease. Gynecomastia is the pathological development and growth of the mammary glands. In men, it usually manifests itself in the fact that they begin to develop breasts of a female type, and in women - in the fact that the volume of the mammary glands becomes excessively large. A volume above four hundred cubic centimeters is believed to be a sign of possible pathology.
There is both true and false gynecomastia. The treatment of the disease in this case can differ significantly in its different types. The symptoms of this disease are not limited to a change in the appearance of the breast, they can be expressed by the appearance of other specific signs, for example, discharge from the nipple, often with blood, pain, increased breast density. Pathology can occur for many reasons, the main of which is a hormonal imbalance, often caused by taking certain drugs. In some cases, due to certain congenital abnormalities, gynecomastia may develop, while treatment is primarily based on restoring the normal hormonal balance in the patient's body.
Diagnosis of gynecomastia consists in passing a series of tests: ultrasound of the mammary glands and a blood test for biochemistry, the purpose of which is to identify hormonal disorders. In some cases, a biopsy of the gland tissue is prescribed.
There are several stages that characterize gynecomastia. Treatment in this case can be both very easy and conservative, and requiring mandatory surgical intervention. In the initial stage, it is usually enough to simply tidy up the numberandrogens and estrogens (male and female hormones) in the blood. In more advanced cases, such conservative methods will not help, because changes in tissues have become stable and irreversible - neglected gynecomastia. The operation in this case is required. Despite the importance of this procedure, it is carried out in a short time, no more than one hour.
