The size of the working part of the considered element of the dental machine is very important, so it is chosen in accordance with the target audience. There are three types of tip: MU, SU, TU. Depending on who the doctor works with, the appropriate nozzle is also selected.
The first type belongs to the category of small tips. It can be used to treat small children.
The second is the most common, standard. Typically, such a turbine handpiece is used if a huge number of patients of all age categories appear in the office during the day.
The third type is more used in orthopedic offices, so dentists rarely see it.
The characteristics are directly dependent on the size of the handpiece, so the TU-type can be seen the highest performance in terms of power. Nevertheless, doctors say that the handpiece intended for children is the most convenient for micro-operations.
Classification by additional functions
There are a number of some additions that can greatly simplify the work of the doctor. First of all, the conversation is about the light accompaniment of the operation. A backlit turbine handpiece is much more convenient, especially if the lighting in the office is not powerful enough. The operation of such an element is most often carried out in the presence of fiber optics or a generator with an LED. The second type is undoubtedly more convenient, because the generation of the necessary electricity occurs autonomously, and such a system costs much less than an installation with fiber optics.
An additional function for cooling the working area is available in all types of handpieces. There is a single-point, three-point and five-point spray, which is used to cool the bur. It is customary to distinguish them by price range. The most in demand are five-point turbine tips, reviews of which are always full of laudatory words. The spray of such a turbine allows the use of freezing even during the main operation of the dental machine.
By the type of bearings, metal nozzles and ceramic ones that replaced them are distinguished. The service life of the latter is still longer, but the rules for caring for them should always be remembered. Any oversight may result in the disposal of the bearing.
