Many owners of fluffy slickers (cats) often face a problem in the very early stages of their pet's life - the kitten's eyes fester. What to do in this case? After all, this problem should by no means be ignored, since any inflammatory processes occur in the eyes of the animal, which, unfortunately, were not noticed in time.
The kitten's eyes are festering! What to do?
First you need to find the reason. There are quite a few of them. We will tell you about the most famous.
- For example, a kitten's eyes can become inflamed due to untreated conjunctivitis. For example, if the treatment process itself was not carried out exactly as it should be, or it was not brought to the point of complete recovery of the cat.
- Injury to the eyelid is often accompanied by damage to the conjunctiva. How does this happen? Any foreign objects get on the mucous membrane of the cat's eye. Irritation occurs. The danger lies in the fact that a foreign body can affect the cornea and sclera of the eye, and this is already a direct path for the penetration of a purulent infection.
- Sometimes this is a consequence of a cat diseasecalled "blepharitis", which can be triggered by chemical, traumatic and thermal effects on the eyelids. This results in the penetration of microbes, pathogenic fungi and viruses. This, as we understand, does not lead to anything good.
- Another reason why kittens have festering eyes is inflammation of the cornea. This is a common disease, accompanied by the release of pus.
These are perhaps the most common reasons why a kitten's eyes fester.
What to do?
The answer is simple: treat! But not on your own, but with the help of a cat doctor, in other words, a veterinarian. Please don't let this take its course. Remember: even though a cat has several lives, in this case nothing will be cured by itself, since the disease is purulent! A qualified specialist will take samples from your pet and send them to the laboratory for analysis. This will help determine the infectious onset (cause). After that, the veterinarian will determine the sensitivity to antibiotics.
Cat Eye Treatment
First of all, it will be necessary to eliminate the cause that provoked the development of the pathological process. Remember! From a well-identified prerequisite, which treatment measures are suitable for your pet will depend.
For example, if a kitten had a bruise or eye injury, then the veterinarian will thoroughly clean his (eye) with gauze swabs dipped inhydrogen peroxide (3%). Everything is done very carefully, otherwise there is a risk of damaging the conjunctiva itself. Then the veterinarian will wash the eye with a solution of potassium permanganate (potassium permanganate) and be sure to drip drops containing antibiotics. The doctor will definitely show the owners of the cat how to do this. In the future, they themselves will treat their pet at home for the entire period while the kitten's eyes fester.
What to do if your furry creature gets sick with blepharitis? Don't worry! Everything is easier here. To find out and immediately remove the cause that provoked this disease, the doctor will recommend placing the kitten in a clean and, most importantly, well-ventilated area. In addition, the animal will need a balanced diet, since feline beriberi is often the cause of blepharitis. If the eye is stuck together with a crust of pus, apply vaseline oil. This will soften the highlights. Remove them with a swab previously moistened with a solution of hydrogen peroxide (3%).
